The very next weekend, we decided that we didn't get our fill of a camp out. So we headed to Yellow Pines out past Heber. (After Heather drove with my & her kids to stake out a spot where we camped out last time only to find that they were full. The next few hours were full of online searching here & Heather entertaining 5 kiddos in her van.)
We were very glad to find this place and we arrived in the early afternoon. Once camp was all set up we found a little stream nearby. It was the best! It gave all the kids something to do.
It looks like Tanner likes to eat bark...and it's really good!
The girls did a lot of climbing and exploring. Victoria kept finding clam shells. She was working so hard to find enough for every kid that was going to be there.
Christianna was finding floating flowers and catching them.
Brett found all the slimy stuff to be totally awesome!
For some reason, this picture of John makes me think of the Hobbits. Don't know why??? (Is that a ring hanging on that string?)
With Heather & Aaron getting ice in town, Chris managed to keep Tanner busy by telling him that one day, he too can have bulging biceps like him. "Ooooooooh!" Tanner says. John agrees, "Yeah..."
Now this marks a very funny story! Prepare yourself to laugh...really hard.
Heather and David were sitting in a stream on a warm Friday afternoon. They talked a little but sometimes they were quiet and just enjoyed the sounds of nature & children frolicking in the stream around them. (I also think they were gazing into each other's eyes...but I am speculating there.) Well, to keep herself busy, Heather was taking rocks out of the stream and tossing them at that rock just to her right. It was great fun watching them bounce off and fall back into the water until...
AAAAARRRRGGGGHHHHH! David screamed in writhing agony! The last rock that Heather threw against that rock split into 3 pieces, one being a pretty big size and that very same rock flew high into the air above David's head and came right back down & smacked off his noggin. I seriously saw it -with what seemed like slow motion - with my very eyes!
Oh boy - she felt bad. Really bad! She rushed to his side and hugged away all the hurt.
Check out his face now...he is smiling! I am sure he was pretty sore but I am thinking he was pretty happy it happened. Just look back at that last picture and the space between them...
...and here they are snuggled all together holding that fateful piece of rock that nature intended to bring these two cuties together.
This cracked me up too - but not nearly as much as that rock! I was walking back from the camp and spotted these two manly men traipsing around the woods. (Brian & Chris) They looked like they had a plan since they each had a tool of destruction: a hacksaw & a hatchet. I think they need to find something a little smaller to cut with those tools.
This here is Kenley, a really great girl!
