First Day of School

Wahhhooo! Bring it ON! I am so excited for school this year! Wanna know why? Huh? Huh? Both of my lovely girls are going to be in school ALL DAY! Granted I have to wait until next week to even have a full day, but who cares? I am thinking of all the stuff I can do...oh, the possibilities are truly endless.
Our location is great, they can easily walk to school each morning.
We always get a picture in front of the school sign...but after I realized the great quality of the picture & how the school address was right on there...I deleted it. Just in case.

Victoria started 4th grade. Seriously, can you believe that?
She is lined up and ready to head in. Her good friends, Laycee & Gussie, are in her class too.

Heading in to class with her new teacher, Mr. Olsen. We have heard so many great things about him & are truly excited for Victoria to have an excellent challenging teacher.
Christianna started 1st grade. No more half day Kindergarten. Granted, I will miss having their cuteness around, but I think I can manage.

Christianna is in Mrs. Boschert's class. She is such a fabulous teacher & we were very thrilled that we were able to get her as per our request. She is so much fun and you can just tell how much she loves those kids!

So, here's to watching soaps & eating bon bons all the day long!!!
(To be honest, when I walked back home to an empty quiet house, I chocked up a little. Good thing I have Minnie the Terror to keep me company.)

Provo Falls

Saturday was our last camping day. Before we headed home, we went further into the canyon and walked around Provo Falls. It was a little like being back in PA!

Here are all the kids together. I am not sure what John & Sammy are looking at.

We ventured down and then it was play time! Who can pass up playing in water? Definitely not these kids.

Aaaahhh - how cute they are...
Heather & David

Levi & Kenley
and the top of Brett's head

Victoria & Christianna pre-drenched

Most of the adults got into the spirit of fun in the water.

Right here, the girls were getting ready to walk down a very slippery rock.
Shortly after taking about 3 steps, Christianna fell in up to her head! Victoria thought it was very funny, so Christianna - in her little temper - pushed her in too. That's about when I took this:

Honestly, I don't think she minded too much.

John doesn't like walking in the water on slippery rocks without a finger to hold onto.
Aaron just doesn't like to walk on rocks. period.
Heather: not sure about the extreme close-up & Sammy: pretty sure she likes it!

Finally, a picture with my girls. Geez, when you are the photographer - you tend to have any of yourself...but that is ok! (David thought Victoria looked like a troll. Funny! I think they were both tired, wet & cold.)

Act II : Camping Part 1

The very next weekend, we decided that we didn't get our fill of a camp out. So we headed to Yellow Pines out past Heber. (After Heather drove with my & her kids to stake out a spot where we camped out last time only to find that they were full. The next few hours were full of online searching here & Heather entertaining 5 kiddos in her van.)

We were very glad to find this place and we arrived in the early afternoon. Once camp was all set up we found a little stream nearby. It was the best! It gave all the kids something to do.

It looks like Tanner likes to eat bark...and it's really good!

The girls did a lot of climbing and exploring. Victoria kept finding clam shells. She was working so hard to find enough for every kid that was going to be there.

Christianna was finding floating flowers and catching them.
Brett found all the slimy stuff to be totally awesome!
For some reason, this picture of John makes me think of the Hobbits. Don't know why??? (Is that a ring hanging on that string?)
With Heather & Aaron getting ice in town, Chris managed to keep Tanner busy by telling him that one day, he too can have bulging biceps like him. "Ooooooooh!" Tanner says. John agrees, "Yeah..."
Now this marks a very funny story! Prepare yourself to laugh...really hard.
Heather and David were sitting in a stream on a warm Friday afternoon. They talked a little but sometimes they were quiet and just enjoyed the sounds of nature & children frolicking in the stream around them. (I also think they were gazing into each other's eyes...but I am speculating there.) Well, to keep herself busy, Heather was taking rocks out of the stream and tossing them at that rock just to her right. It was great fun watching them bounce off and fall back into the water until...
AAAAARRRRGGGGHHHHH! David screamed in writhing agony! The last rock that Heather threw against that rock split into 3 pieces, one being a pretty big size and that very same rock flew high into the air above David's head and came right back down & smacked off his noggin. I seriously saw it -with what seemed like slow motion - with my very eyes!
Oh boy - she felt bad. Really bad! She rushed to his side and hugged away all the hurt.
Check out his face now...he is smiling! I am sure he was pretty sore but I am thinking he was pretty happy it happened. Just look back at that last picture and the space between them...
...and here they are snuggled all together holding that fateful piece of rock that nature intended to bring these two cuties together.
This cracked me up too - but not nearly as much as that rock! I was walking back from the camp and spotted these two manly men traipsing around the woods. (Brian & Chris) They looked like they had a plan since they each had a tool of destruction: a hacksaw & a hatchet. I think they need to find something a little smaller to cut with those tools.
This here is Kenley, a really great girl!
Brett & John as they were climbing a fallen tree.
Slade getting ready to head back to the camp.

Heidi with her 2 cute daughters, Kenley & Sammy
Sammy again, I love her hair!

Act II: Camping Part 2

After all the water play, it was time to get to work. The boys liked collecting pine cones because they crackle in the fire.
Tanner was having a blast on the camp chair...until he tipped over and cracked his head on a rock!
Poor guy - we were all glad that there was not a trip to the E.R. this weekend.

The manly men found a stinking huge tree! We had a bonfire going pretty good!

Chris looks a little stoned.

Brett, Kenley & Victoria
Brian was roasting some incredible marshmallows! I seriously have no idea how a regular marshmallow could turn into THIS!

After a good nights rest, we had a lovely breakfast. Heather worked a lot on it & after a little while, Heidi & Brian took over.

Ooooh, stretchy skin.

Eating around the campfire.

I finally captured a picture of Levi, who had been alluding the camera. He is reminiscent of the elusive Sasquatch coming out from the trees!

Christianna was trying to catch a football - she is the one sitting on the cooler.
Isn't Heather such a good sport? Well, except for that tongue sticking out.
The Barkers were so nice to teach me the card game of Golf. Don't ask me how to play. I already forgot!
PHEW! There is just one more post for this trip. We had such a great time & took so many pictures!
