Dragonfly on the fly

We were hanging out over at Heather's house - shocker, right? Well the kids found this dragonfly perched on a stick. He hung around the entire time Victoria was taking pictures and as soon as we were done...he flew off!

A special "Thanks" goes out to Heidi for being the backdrop on the second picture. Victoria entered this one into the Reflections contest in school.

Goodbye cop car...sniff sniff

A moment of silence, please.
Today we say good bye to an old and dear friend. Someone who has been there, thick and thin...rain, snow or sunshine - has seen the good, the bad, & definitely too much of the ugly.
Someone who really wanted to be good and start when the ignition was turned...but sometimes failed. Even though there were some tough times, we have grown to care deeply about car #40393. Farewell....farewell.

(Sorry to be the one to tell you...you were traded in for a nicer model with an AWESOME LED LIGHT BAR - YEAH!)
You will be missed....sniff...sniff.

Utah Football Game

Now before any of you feel the need to school me on my team preferences...I am neutral. I have no desire to care and decide if BYU or Utah is the best. Really - don't care. With that said, Chris & I went to the season opening game on Sep. 23rd. I was liking the great seats we got and my awesome camera - got some good shots too.

The reason we were there was Chris. He along with other local Police Officers and Firefighters were in the opening pre-game show. They each were able to help unfurl the gigantic flag on the field. While the marching band played.

It looked really awesome. You can get the big picture if you look at the screen above the field.

That is Chris - second one in from the left. I think he didn't mind having to stand next to those on his right...in their tight little pants.

After his flag duties were complete, he joined me in the INSANE area. There were some crazy hardcore fans by us. In my opinion, grown men should keep their shirts on. Especially when their beer bellies are hanging over their pants. YUCK!
Chris was so sweet - he didn't even care that I looked like a zombie for most of the evening and kept my ears plugged for the entire second half of the game. I came with a pretty good headache and the noise just made it killer. I was glad to spend the night at the game - I love going to football games. I was even more excited to get home and go to bed.
To top off our evening, we were able to run into our bestest & oldest friend, Holly, at the game. We really miss her!!! BTW: When are you coming for dinner Holly?

Stake GOLF Tournament

Personally, I would have preferred a Stake Miniature Golf Tournament...but alas - no go. We teamed up with Heidi & Brian Barker. It sure was fun seeing a different/competitive side of them!

I wish I had counted the club throws & hits into the ground after a really bad hit. Those Barkers...I'll tell you what.....WOW.

I am only posting one picture of me...please don't judge me. I have crappy form and a good hitting percentage, if I'm lucky, of 30%. In my defense, I did warn everyone going into this that if they wanted to win - they shouldn't team up with me.

Heidi & I in the golf cart. You know what feels great? Letting that cart rip on the course.

Here we are - all together in our non-winning glory. But we sure looked good and had a BLAST doing it!

A day at the State Fair

We go to the fair every year to take in all the wonderful sights and sounds....and you guessed it: FOODS! (I mostly go to see if any of my pictures earned any ribbons...and for the food.)
One of my picture entries this year was of my niece, Emma. I got an honorable mention.

After we checked that out as well as Victoria's quilt - we headed to the regular haunts. We always visit the Hands on Farm exhibit. The girls love it every year.

We then went and bought our tickets to go down the big yellow slide. Then it rained. After getting a full refund and a couple of sad faces, we headed over to another area. The girls each got 3 tries for a hole in one & Christianna actually got one!

We stopped by the news station tent - it started to rain again pretty hard - and got some pictures there.

What is a trip to the fair without visiting all the cute stinky farm animals. This one goat was really loving Christianna & her balloon.

This video is of that crazy goat.

Throughout the evening it was raining off and on. We still had a great time. At one point we caught a glimpse of this rainbow.

I think the wet grounds make the pictures neater. Chris & the girls are walking just ahead of me in this one.

It was about time to leave and with the rain, not all the rides were working...so we had them choose one to go on before we left. They chose the fun house.

They should really make these things bigger - or else charge a lot less for it! They were out in under a minute!

She won a ribbon!!

Remember that post a while back about Victoria's first quilt? Well - she won a ribbon!
2nd Place

When we saw it, we were so proud. Chris even got all choked up - so proud of our girl!

Utah Museum of Natural History - AGAIN

So we go to this museum a lot - because the first Monday of the month it is FREE!
This time we invited David & Heather to join us. There was an extra exhibit where there were snakes, lizards and other creepy crawlies. They also had this adorable coyote...of course he could have attacked and ate a small child in a second...but I am focusing on the cuteness.
Here are 2 frogs - new to the pond. Heather kept waiting for her turn to get in there. IT was so stinking funny! Each time she waited on a side, she was next to go & then a new line suddenly appeared on the other side...after many tries, the poor dear gave up.

This is a traditional pose. So who is eating who here?

I think this is the best on thus far. Victoria really looks like dinner.

David, Heather & the girls lined up on a big dinosaur bone.

Just before we left, we caught a fun show. Two frog characters...Ribbit & something-or-other...taught us how important the rain forest is and all about frogs. They taught the kids how to help and protect frogs - it was fun & the girls really enjoyed it.

Leaf Bug Randomness

So tonight we were letting Minnie outside to do her "Before Bedtime Business" and we saw this guy right on our back door. I took so many pictures, but these are the best ones. Leaf Bugs are
The BOMB!
