Independence vs. Matching

Picture 21
Here is my dear Christianna & her socks. I had to blog this for future posterity. Christianna has selective independence issues. For example, she likes to dress herself, but needs help with her shoes because "It's too hard."
I am pretty sure that she has only a couple pairs of socks that are her favorite. This pair is at the top of her selection list. As soon as they are back from the wash, they are on her feet. And when she puts them on, she is fully committed! She pulls those things so far up that they are to her knees and her toes look like they are about to pop right through! It is hysterical when she insists on wearing them with shorts or capris - as she is today.
I am actually kinda used to her looking like this. We have a "when we are going into public" rule. Which means that she has to look decent and match if we are leaving the house-mainly if it is somewhere nice or important. For example, the post office does NOT count as one of those places. She will even ask if we are going into public before she dresses for the day. (It helps her decide what is acceptable.) But, when we picked Chris up for lunch today, he saw the socks and reminded her that she was in public...he said it with a grin and a funny look look my way that had "nice" written all over it!
